As you already know (of course, if you have read our article “Bearded men are HOT”), women find beards kind of attractive. Do you want another big pro?
Back in 2015, scientists from Albuquerque, New Mexico, published a study that suggested that a man’s beard contains lots of bacteria. Well, you can imagine how terrible it sounds especially with all that coronavirus chaos. People get afraid even when they see someone sneezing, so this information adds no confidence and desire to grow a beard. Right, friends?
But…no need to panic yet. There is another research coming right away. It was published in the Journal of Hospital Inspection. Following this study, scientists have found out whether it is really dangerous to grow facial hair. These science people took samples from a hundred bearded men and those who shave their facial hair (working in the hospital, by the way) for the investigation.
It turned out that males with a beard are much cleaner in terms of bacteria. It sounds surprising but shaven skin has three times more staphylococcus resistant to antibiotics. Well, FYI, it is like the most dangerous kind of bacteria that can be found in the hospital.
Scientists explain this miracle by the fact that when shaving men simply damage their skin. You probably know this annoying feeling of irritation and skin peeling. These injuries allow more bacteria to develop.
Plus, the skin of the men with the beard was more moist and had a stable natural microflora that resisted bacteria.
Basically, Albuquerque scientists haven’t really tested and analyzed the samples of beards in terms of bacteria. In fact, these bacteria are rather good for your health since they help to resist infections.
Again, it doesn’t mean that if you have a beard there is no need to take proper care of it. Keep it clean and tidy. You still have to moisturize your skin to avoid irritation and peeling. You still need to apply care cosmetics to support your beard growth. You still need to wash it with a shampoo and consume vitamins, especially if you are seriously deficient. And if you care about your appearance and don’t want to look messy, think about applying special tools like a trimmer or see a barber.
We hope this article has given you more confidence to grow a beard or support its growth, if you already have one. Stay healthy, take care and feel free to contact us for more info!
